FAQs

Do you carry out any in-process inspection during fabrication?

We carry out inspections at each step of fabrication and assembly. We mainly check for wrong placement, missing components, broken traces, and short circuits. The inspection gives an immediate heads-up to the production line if there are any fabrication issues so that we can provide the necessary correction and prevention activities. We have manual as well as automated inspections as necessary.

What type of final inspection do you do?

We carry out final inspections using sampling size based on AQL or acceptable quality level. This tabulated sampling plan based on lot size determines a reliable sampling size that ensures we ship only good parts. We follow commonly accepted standards like IPC-A-600 and IPC-A-610, and any customer-specified standard.

What is mixed technology assembly?

Although most customers specify using surface mount components, some require using through-hole components as well. We handle boards using SMT and THT components individually, but we also handle boards using both SMT and THT components simultaneously.

Why is surface finish necessary?

Once we have finished fabricating the board, we typically place a protective covering of the solder mask on the entire board. This is a tough layer that protects the copper traces from damage. The only part of the board not covered by the solder mask is the copper pads on which we will deposit solder paste and then the components for reflow soldering. A surface finish is necessary to protect the exposed copper pads from being oxidized until they have been soldered.

Can you handle boards that require both wave and reflow soldering?

Yes, we can. We use both wave and reflow soldering to assemble boards with mixed technology components. First, we mount the SMT components on the underside of the board, fixing them in place with glue. Then we insert all the THT components and solder the underside of the board with the wave soldering process. Then we mount the SMT components on the top side of the board and solder them with the reflow process.
